Tom Bingham was a British judge and jurist. He wrote the book The Rule of Law, which posthumously won the Orwell Prize for literature, and The British Institute of International and Comparative Law named the Bingham Centre in honour of him and his book. He served as Master of the Rolls, Lord Chief Justice, and as Senior Law Lord. After retiring from HM Judiciary, Bingham focused on teaching and lecturing in human rights law, he has been given several awards in recognition of his work, and was given the title Baron Bingham of Cornhill.
